Here is a description of a
few of our more popular treatments....
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use
of pure essential and absolute oils. It is a
branch of herbology and the study of
"aromatherapy" may best be considered in these
four areas of application:
- Aesthetic - the effects essential oils
have on the beauty of skin and hair.
-
- Psycho - the effects aromas have on our
moods and feeling; also known as aromachology.
-
- Holistic - the integration of the divine
into the body, mind and spirit.
-
- Medical - the effects essential oils have
in enhancing and maintaining a state of
homeostasis.
The term "aromatherapy"
was coined in the 1920's by a French perfumer
named Rene Gattfosse. The word therapy in and
of itself implies the need for treatment of an
illness or disability. While it is true that
all four of the above mentioned areas of
application could and oftentimes do manifest
themselves as acute or chronic conditions that
require treatment which the essential oils can
be effective in treating, we would also like to
encourage the use of aromatherapy for everyday
pleasure and well-being.
Reflexology
Whilst the art of
reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India
and China, it wasn’t until 1913 that Dr William
Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West
as ‘zone therapy’. He noted that reflex areas
on the feet and hands were linked to other
areas and organs of the body within the same
zone.
In the 1930’s
Eunice Ingham further developed this zone
theory into what is now known as reflexology.
She observed that congestion or tension in any
part of the foot is mirrored in the
corresponding part of the body.
Reflexology is a
complementary therapy, which works on the feet
to help heal the whole person not just the
prevailing symptoms.
How can
reflexology help me?
Reflexology can be
used to help restore and maintain the body’s
natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy
encourages the body to work naturally to
restore its own healthy balance.
Reflexology
has been shown to be effective for:

Indian head massage
An Indian head massage can promote relaxation,
help concentration, relieve tension headaches,
improve hair condition and also aid performance
at work. What other reason do you need to go
and get one.
Based on an ancient Indian healing system, the
Ayurveda, an Indian head massage (or
champissage) is subtle and deep leaving the
client feeling deeply relaxed, de-stressed and
rejuvenated.
The massage can be done with or without
essential oils depending on the clients wishes.
It is geneally performed in a quiet, warm room,
over clothes and with jewellery removed. The
recipient usually sits in an upright chair with
both feet flat on the ground.
